A Day in L.A.

The hospitals in California are all unionized which means that they have more chances of having strikes.  Some of the hospitals go on strikes frequently and other nurses have to be brought in to take their shifts.  Tracy got to go to one of these strikes in L.A. that was happening for only one night in January.  Here are a few pictures from our short trip to L.A.

This is the view from Tracy's Great Uncle & Aunt's home in Rancho Palos Verde, California.  Across the Bay is Palm Springs.  We had the opportunity to spend the evening with Tracy's Aunt when we went to L.A.

This is the Westin, the hotel that we stayed in  while in L.A.  The elevators are located on both the inside and the outside and it takes about six seconds to get from the lobby to the tenth floor.   Tracy was trying to entice me to look at the views as we raced to the top and I was trying to hug the elevator doors while holding on for "dear life."

These "fish" were in the lobby of the Westin.  They were supposed to be shooting water over a little "bridge" area but they were broken so they were just shooting water at whoever walked over it.

On the sixth floor of the hotel they had the pool and garden area.  There were a few restaurants and a linked walkway over to some other business buildings, a Johnny Rockets, and a Starbucks.  I couldn't believe that they had trees planted all over this roof.  As I looked around at some of the other buildings rooftops they had trees growing as well!

This was just outside of the Westin.  A nice little park in the middle of downtown.

At night everything lit up.  They had lights covering everything.  Every area used during the day could be also used at night because of how they had everything lit.  It was a nice little visit and I wouldn't mind going back in the future to visit some of the sites.
