Who We Are

Hello!  We’re the Stiekes.  But you can call us Geoff & Tracy.  Thinking about writing a “Bio” tends to remind us of watching someone else’s home movies.  How difficult it would be to stay awake after hours of watching someone else take a vacation, or try countless times to get their baby to talk, or even watching them try and figure out what’s wrong with the camera when it’s obvious that the lens cap is still on.  We won’t bore you with the minutest details of our lives; instead we’ll run the “highlights” reel.

Geoff grew up with his parents and three other siblings in Lake Orion, Michigan.  Geoff spent most of his youth growing up in this quaint suburbia area and also in the country.  Tracy grew up with her parents and one other sibling in Hazel Park, Michigan.  Hazel Park is more “city” like, a neighbor to Detroit.  In 1998, Geoff and his parents moved to Hazel Park where Geoff met Tracy for the first time and they fell in love (not really—Tracy found Geoff incredibly annoying, but eventually Geoff whittled her down and she ended up giving in).  Living in Hazel Park was a bit of a “shell shock” for the Stiekes and it was much different then living in suburbia (people actually have to lock their doors in the city). Geoff was alleviated when Tracy agreed to marry him and it was official May of 2000.  They bought the in-laws house (yes, Tracy has never moved) and stayed in Hazel Park.  Both Geoff & Tracy had a series of jobs until Geoff took a more permanent one as a contractor and Tracy went back to school for nursing (does anyone else find it weird that we’re talking about ourselves in the third party?) Over the years, we have attended several different churches but have found our home to be at Faith Baptist Church in Warren.  We have had many dreams and goals, as well as many set backs and disappointments throughout our last eleven years.  We know that “all things work together for good to those who love God,” and have confidence that God has a greater purpose for our lives then we even realize.

We don’t really know what else to put in as a description of our lives; we’re not very good at “marketing” ourselves.  We suppose if we had to say something we would say that we are two ordinary people with servants’ hearts that want to be used by God for whatever He wills.  We want our lives to reflect Christ and the love that He has freely given us and we strive to express our lives in that manner every day.  If you have any questions or want to contact us, we'd love to hear from you.
